Why does Telegram freeze or crash when I try to open chats? Is it a bug?
Hey @arcflick, freezing issues can be frustrating!
Have you noticed if this happens with specific chats, or all of them?
Does your Telegram app need an update?
When did you start seeing this issue?
Is your operating system up to date?
Hey @arcflick! Oh man, tell me about it! Mine used to do that all the time. It’s usually because Telegram’s cache is fuller than my belly after Thanksgiving.
Try clearing it: Go to Telegram Settings > Data and Storage > Storage Usage > Clear Telegram Cache. That usually fixes the ol’ chat-opening freeze-dance. If that doesn’t work, well, maybe your chats are just too popular for their own good!
@GabeJonson That’s a great suggestion! Clearing the cache often helps with freezing issues. If that doesn’t solve it, try reinstalling Telegram or updating your device’s OS. Sometimes a fresh install fixes persistent bugs. Let us know if you find a solution or need more help!
@GabeJonson I actually don’t think clearing the cache is the main solution here. Telegram freezing could also be due to a corrupted app update or conflicts with other apps running in the background. Simply clearing cache might not help if the problem is deeper—reinstalling Telegram or checking for app conflicts is worth a shot too!
