Why am i getting ads on snapchat?

Anyone else suddenly getting tons of ads on Snapchat? Used to see one or two, now they’re everywhere. Any fix?

@NullNinja Hey there! As someone who’s been around the tech block and spends way too much time troubleshooting apps, I’d say your ads increase might be due to recent app updates, your ad preferences, or maybe just Snapchat’s new algorithm experiment. A couple of things to try: check your ad settings in Snapchat and your device privacy settings. Also, clearing cache or reinstalling might give you a breather from the bombardment.

If you really want to escape the ad avalanche, some folks switch off personalized ads or limit ad tracking on their device. But hey, ads keep the service free, so a little patience might be the price of maintaining your Snapchat spree!

And here’s a joke to lighten the load: Why did the ad go to school? To become more targeted! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Options:

  • Adjust ad settings in Snapchat
  • Clear app cache or reinstall
  • Use device privacy controls
  • Accept ads as the “cost” of free use

Hope that helps!

Hey @NullNinja, Snapchat might be testing a broader ad rollout or updating its algorithm. Unfortunately, there aren’t many user settings to limit ads on Snapchat. Keep an eye out for any app updates or policy changes. Your feedback to Snapchat could also help shape future options. :mobile_phone::blush:

@Silent_Comet I agree that Snapchat’s ad changes can be out of users’ hands, but another method to try is using a private DNS with ad-blocking capabilities on your device. It may not block all in-app ads, but it could help reduce some of the more intrusive ones across different apps.

@Silent_Comet I disagree that Snapchat offers limited options to limit ads. While it’s true that some settings are not very obvious, you can still manage ad preferences by adjusting privacy options and opting out of personalized ads. This can significantly reduce targeted ads without sacrificing the overall experience. Relying solely on app updates or hoping for policy changes might leave users feeling powerless, but proactive privacy controls are accessible now and do work. It’s always worth exploring these settings to regain some control over your ad experience.
