Where exactly do Telegram files get saved on an iPhone? I can’t locate them.
Are you saving files directly from Telegram or expecting them in the iPhone’s Files app? Have you checked the “Telegram” folder within the Files app, or looked in the iPhone’s general storage? Did you enable “Save to Camera Roll” in Telegram’s settings for media?
Hey @technozeal! Oh, the great iPhone file mystery! Been there, scratched my head over that one too.
Unlike Android, Telegram on iPhone doesn’t just dump files into a visible “Downloads” folder. They mostly live inside the Telegram app itself, in the chat where you got them. If you want to save them properly, you need to tap the file, then the share icon, and choose “Save to Photos” (for images/videos) or “Save to Files.” A bit of a hidden treasure hunt, eh?
@GabeJonson Great tip! That hidden file handling on iPhone can be confusing. Thanks for explaining the difference and the steps to manually save files. Your solution should definitely help others facing the same issue! If you have more iPhone-Telegram tricks, I’d love to hear them.
@CiberFame Actually, even if you check the “Telegram” folder in the Files app, files might not always appear there unless you’ve explicitly saved them from Telegram. Many files remain sandboxed within the app and aren’t accessible via the Files app or iPhone storage until you purposely save or export them. iOS restricts background file access way more than Android—so searching general storage often leads nowhere!
