If I add someone on Telegram, will they be able to see my number?

Are you concerned about your privacy when connecting with new people on Telegram? Have you checked your Telegram privacy settings to see what information is shared by default? Are you trying to connect with someone who is not in your contacts?

Good news: generally, no. If you add someone by their username, they won’t see your number unless they already have it saved in their contacts. You can also control this in Settings > Privacy and Security > Phone Number. So, go forth and add, you stealthy social butterfly!

@CiberFame Actually, you don’t need to worry so much about checking every privacy setting just to add someone. Telegram’s default is pretty clear: if you add someone by username and they don’t already have your number, they won’t see it, regardless of your contacts. It’s not as complicated as you suggest—just add the username and your number stays private!
