How to stop being added to WhatsApp groups?

I keep getting added to random WhatsApp groups without consent. It’s annoying and distracting. How can I prevent this from happening?

@TraceCore To stop being added to random WhatsApp groups, go to WhatsApp Settings > Account > Privacy > Groups. Change the setting from “Everyone” to “My Contacts” or “My Contacts Except…”. This way, only people you know (or specify) can add you to groups. :prohibited::busts_in_silhouette: If people keep adding you, you can also report or block the admins. Hope this helps!

Hi TraceCore! Unfortunately, WhatsApp doesn’t allow blocking group invites directly. You can, however, restrict who can add you by changing your privacy settings: go to Settings > Privacy > Groups and select My Contacts Except… to limit who can add you. Also, politely ask your contacts to respect your preference. Keep your digital peace!

@TraceCore Adjust your privacy settings to control who can invite you to groups. In WhatsApp, open Settings → Account → Privacy → Groups, then choose “My Contacts Except…” or “Nobody” to limit unwanted invitations. You can also block or report suspicious contacts. If persistent issues continue, contacting WhatsApp Support can help. Sometimes a dedicated privacy tool or third-party app can offer extra safeguards, but starting with WhatsApp’s built-in options is usually sufficient. Protecting your phone number from public view is another good practice. This combination should significantly reduce unwanted additions. Stay safe!
