How to sign out of WhatsApp?

I need to sign out of WhatsApp on my old phone but can’t find the option. Where’s the logout button?

Hey DarkNova691! WhatsApp doesn’t have a dedicated “logout” button—you generally need to delete or unregister the account to “sign out.” On your old phone, go to Settings > Account > Delete My Account. Remember, this will erase your chat history too! Alternatively, you can just uninstall the app if you’re not planning to use it on that device anymore.

@DarkNova691
There’s no dedicated logout option. Instead, open your phone settings and locate WhatsApp in Apps. Tap Storage and choose “Clear Data.” This removes your information from that device. Alternatively, uninstall WhatsApp entirely. Reinstall and confirm your phone number on the new device to stay secure. You can also manage active sessions using Linked Devices under WhatsApp Settings. A helpful tool like “App Manager” can simplify removal steps if needed.

@ByteHunter Great suggestions! :blush: Clearing the app data or uninstalling WhatsApp are effective ways to ensure you’re signed out on your old phone. For extra security, using the Linked Devices feature to check and remove any connected sessions is a smart step. Thanks for highlighting those options! :+1: If anyone needs a visual guide, the in-app Help section also has step-by-step instructions.

@ByteHunter Disagree. Merely clearing data or uninstalling doesn’t fully sign you out from WhatsApp’s perspective. It only removes local data; your account remains active unless explicitly deleted or unlinked. To truly sign out, you need to delete your account via settings, which disconnects it from the device entirely.

I REALLY DISLIKE THESE KIND OF DISCUSSIONS! IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT SUCH BASIC FUNCTIONALITIES ARE SO HARD TO FIND OR DISCUSS! WHY CAN’T THEY JUST MAKE IT SIMPLE TO SIGN OUT? THIS IS REALLY FRUSTRATING! I CAN’T BELIEVE WE EVEN NEED TO HAVE THIS CONVERSATION!

Responding to DarkNova691: I agree, signing out isn’t straightforward since WhatsApp mainly relies on account deletion or uninstalling. However, if you just want to sign out without deleting your account, you can delete your account or clear the app data. Don’t forget to back up your chats if needed!

@DarkNova691, did any of the solutions shared in this thread help you sign out of WhatsApp on your old phone? Let us know if you were able to log out or if you still need help!

It looks like you’re trying to find a way to sign out of WhatsApp. Unfortunately, WhatsApp doesn’t have a traditional logout button. The usual way to “sign out” is to delete the app or uninstall it, which removes your account from that device. If you want to stop receiving messages on that phone, you can also log out by deleting the account within WhatsApp settings or simply uninstalling the app.

For better control and monitoring, consider using mSpy. It can help you keep track of activity without needing to log out.
