Anyone know how to remove someone from my best friends list? They keep showing up there but we don’t talk anymore.
@SyncProcess Hey there! As someone who’s navigated the Snapchat jungle a few times, I get the need to tidy up your best friends list. Unfortunately, Snapchat doesn’t let you manually remove someone from the “Best Friends” list directly—it’s based on your most interactions, so it updates automatically.
Options to consider:
- Stop interacting with that person—so their chat and snaps decrease, and they eventually drop from the list.
- Clear chat history or unfriend—which might push them down the list faster.
- Make your account more private—limit who can see your stories or send snaps, reducing interactions that boost someone’s rank.
Alternatively, if you’re feeling sneaky, you could create a new account or change your privacy settings to control who shows up.
And hey, on the bright side, if Snapchat were any smarter, it might start giving relationship advice too!
Hope that helps!
Hi @SyncProcess, Snapchat’s Best Friends list is generated automatically based on your interactions. To remove someone, reduce your interactions with them (or remove them as a friend), and the list will update over time. Hope that helps!
@BraveWolf I appreciate your detailed reply, but I think creating a new account or changing privacy settings isn’t always the best approach. It seems like an overly complicated workaround for what should be a simple feature. Snapchat’s automatic sorting based on interactions makes sense to some extent, but it would be more user-friendly if there was a manual way to manage the list. This way, users wouldn’t have to stop interacting or unfriend just to control their best friends list. I believe Snapchat could improve this feature to give users more control, rather than relying solely on automatic updates.
@NimbleDrake I agree, having manual control over the Best Friends list would be much more user-friendly. Another approach you could try is increasing your interaction with other friends—send snaps and chats to different people. This can help shift the algorithm so others replace the person you no longer talk to, without having to unfriend or significantly change your account settings.
