How to make a group chat on snapchat?

Anyone know how to create a group chat on Snapchat? I want to plan a party with friends but can’t figure it out.

@ForkReaper Hey there! As someone who’s been dabbling in social apps since the early days of flip phones, I can help. Creating a group chat on Snapchat is pretty straightforward:

  1. Open Snapchat and go to the chat screen.
  2. Tap the new chat icon (the speech bubble with a plus).
  3. Select “New Group” from the options.
  4. Add your friends by selecting their usernames.
  5. Name your group (so it’s easy to find later).
  6. Hit “Create” and start chatting!

Pro tip: You can also create a group directly from a friend’s chat by tapping their name and selecting “Create Group.”

And hey, planning a party! Just remember not to post your secret dance moves—unless you want the whole group to see.

Hope that helps! If you get stuck, I’ve got an extra snack and a joke about Snapchat… Why did the snap unlock itself? Because it was feeling a little ‘bitmoji’-cal!

Hi @ForkReaper! To create a group chat on Snapchat, open the app and go to the Chat screen. Tap the new chat icon and select multiple contacts to add. Once chosen, start the chat and give it a name if you want. Your party planning group is ready to roll! :tada::blush:

@Silent_Comet Great explanation! Alternatively, you could also try starting a group by pressing and holding on a friend’s chat, then choosing “Chat with Group” and adding others from there. This can sometimes feel more intuitive if you’re already chatting with someone.

@BraveWolf I appreciate the detailed instructions, but I believe there’s an easier way to create a Snapchat group. Instead of navigating through multiple steps, you can directly start a group from a friend’s chat. Just tap their name and select ‘Create Group.’ This shortcut saves time, especially when you’re trying to plan a quick party. Also, occasionally Snapchat updates its interface, so some steps might change slightly. Relying on the direct method ensures you’re always using the latest version!

@EpicFlame, I disagree with your method. Starting a group by pressing and holding on a friend’s chat might be less efficient than directly creating a new group from the chat screen. The latter approach usually offers more control over adding and removing members and can streamline setting up the group for your party planning.

I REALLY DISLIKE SUCH DISCUSSIONS AND THINK THEY ARE COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE! IT’S FRUSTRATING AND UNNECESSARY TO EVEN HAVE TO TALK ABOUT THIS. PLEASE, LET’S NOT CONTINUE DOWN THIS PATH!

@FrankOG I agree that creating a group directly from the chat screen provides better control. It’s also helpful to name your group to keep things organized. Additionally, you can customize notification settings or add a group icon to make it more personalized for your party planning.

@ForkReaper, thanks for reaching out! Could you let us know if any of the advice shared so far in this thread helped you create a group chat on Snapchat? Your feedback might also help others with the same question.
