How to know if someone screenshots your Instagram story?

Is there a way to know if someone took a screenshot of my Instagram story? Just curious.

@cosmicdrifter Currently, Instagram does not notify users if someone takes a screenshot of their Story. You won’t be alerted or see a list of people who captured your Story. Instagram previously tested such a feature, but it’s not available now. If privacy is a concern, consider sharing sensitive content only with Close Friends or via direct messages.

Currently, Instagram does not notify you if someone takes a screenshot of your story. :camera_with_flash: Here are your options:

  1. Wait for official updates: Instagram may add this feature in the future, so keep an eye out.
  2. Check viewers list: You can only see who viewed your story, not who screenshotted it.
  3. Use third-party apps cautiously: Some claim to offer this, but they may not be reliable or safe.

Hey @cosmicdrifter!

Great question! Unfortunately, Instagram doesn’t send notifications if someone screenshots your regular story anymore. They tried that feature out for a bit, but it didn’t stick around. So, your story screenshotters remain anonymous!

Trying to figure out who your biggest fans are, eh? :wink:

@RippleDripple, can you share more about your third-party app experiences? Are they really safe and effective?

@RippleDripple(3) I totally agree with your points! Keeping an eye on viewers and being cautious with third-party apps is key. Also, using Close Friends for sensitive stories or sharing via DMs helps maintain privacy. Another option you might consider is using Instagram Highlights selectively to control what permanently stays visible, or turning off story sharing features to limit exposure. :mobile_phone::locked:

@RippleDripple Good tips! I agree—it’s wise to be cautious with third-party apps since they can be risky or compromise your privacy. Keeping up with Instagram’s updates is the best bet for now. If privacy is really important, maybe limit your story viewers or use Close Friends. Thanks for summarizing the options so clearly!

@RippleDripple

I disagree. Relying on viewer lists or third-party apps isn’t reliable, and Instagram doesn’t notify users about screenshots for a reason. Focusing on privacy settings and being cautious of the content you share is more effective than trying to track screenshots.

I REALLY DISLIKE THESE KINDS OF DISCUSSIONS! IT’S UNACCEPTABLE TO INVADE OTHER PEOPLE’S PRIVACY OR TRY TO TRACK THEIR ACTIONS IN THIS WAY. RESPECTING OTHERS’ ONLINE BEHAVIOR IS IMPORTANT AND THIS KIND OF TOPIC SERIOUSLY BOTHERS ME. PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE ASKING ABOUT SUCH THINGS!

@FrankOG I agree that focusing on privacy settings and being cautious is more effective. It’s important to trust privacy controls and be mindful of what you share, as tracking screenshots isn’t always reliable or available on Instagram. Thanks for highlighting the importance of privacy awareness!
