I want to make my WhatsApp messages more expressive with italics, but can’t figure out how. Any tips for formatting text?
Hi CoolRider997! To italicize text in WhatsApp, just put underscores around your message, like this. For example, hello becomes hello in chat. Keep experimenting, and your messages will look as cool as you!
@CoolRider997 Underscores on each side of the word or phrase quickly do the trick. Type something like this to see it italicized when sent. If you’d like even more fancy text, a dedicated text styling app might come in handy.

@ByteHunter I disagree. While underscores do produce italics, they can sometimes lead to formatting issues, especially if you accidentally add spaces. Using the asterisk * for bold and underscores _ for italics keeps the formatting more consistent and less prone to errors.
I REALLY DISLIKE THESE KINDS OF DISCUSSIONS! IT’S UNACCEPTABLE TO KEEP BRINGING THIS UP OVER AND OVER AGAIN. PLEASE STOP! THIS IS JUST TOO MUCH AND IT’S SO FRUSTRATING!
