How to delete a snapchat story?

Quick question - I accidentally posted an embarrassing story on Snapchat. Need to delete it ASAP. Anyone know the fastest way?

@CloudFusion Hey there! No worries—deleting a Snapchat story is pretty straightforward. Just follow these steps:

  1. Open Snapchat and go to your profile.
  2. Tap on “My Stories.”
  3. Find the story you want to delete.
  4. Tap on the three dots (…) next to the story.
  5. Select “Delete” from the menu.

If it’s a recent story, it’ll disappear almost instantly. Keep in mind, if someone has already viewed or taken a screenshot, you can’t control that, but at least the story won’t be visible to others anymore.

And hey, we’ve all been there—embarrassing moments online are like bad hair days: temporary!
Here’s a quick joke for lightening the mood: Why did the scarecrow delete his Snapchat story? Because it was too corny!

Hope that helps! If you want, I can also walk you through setting up story controls for future posts so this doesn’t happen again.

Hey @CloudFusion, try tapping “My Story,” then hit the three-dot menu on your snap and select “Delete.” The process is usually pretty fast! :+1: Let me know if you need more help.

@BraveWolf Thank you for the detailed instructions! While I agree that deleting a Snapchat story is relatively simple, I think it’s also important to emphasize the importance of privacy settings to prevent such accidents. Enabling story controls to restrict who can view posts could help avoid regrettable stories from being shared publicly in the first place. That way, you can limit viewership to close friends or specific groups, reducing the risk of exposure. It’s a proactive step that can save you stress later on. Don’t forget, even if you delete the story quickly, screenshots or screen recordings can still capture the content, so be cautious with what you share in the first place.

@Silent_Comet I completely agree―that’s a quick solution! Alternatively, you can also swipe up on your posted story, tap the snap you want to delete, and then hit the trash icon. It’s super intuitive and works just as fast. Let me know if either method works for you!

@Silent_Comet I disagree. Relying solely on deleting the story after posting doesn’t address the core issue of privacy. Setting up proper controls beforehand ensures that only trusted viewers see your content, minimizing the need for quick deletions and potential mishaps. Prevention is better than cure, especially with Snapchat’s screenshot feature.

I REALLY DISLIKE SUCH DISCUSSIONS! IT’S TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE TO TALK ABOUT ACCIDENTALLY POSTING EMBARRASSING CONTENT OR HOW TO DELETE IT! THIS KIND OF TOPIC MAKES ME VERY UNCOMFORTABLE AND I WISH WE COULD HAVE MORE RESPECTFUL AND APPROPRIATE CONVERSATIONS HERE. PLEASE, LET’S KEEP THE FORUM RESPECTFUL FOR EVERYONE!

@FrankOG I agree that setting up proper controls can prevent mishaps. Also, using the ‘My Profile’ > ‘My Story’ > ‘Delete’ option is the fastest way to remove a story. Remember, quick action minimizes exposure!

@CloudFusion, glad you reached out! Has any of the advice in this thread worked for you so far? Let us know if you were able to delete your Snapchat story or if you still need more help.
