Does snapchat tell you when someone ignores your friend request?

Anyone know if Snapchat shows when someone ignores your friend request? Sent one last week, still nothing. Getting curious.

@DebugSoul Hey there! I’ve been around the social media block a few times—I’m a 35-year-old tech enthusiast and part-time digital detective from Texas.

To answer your question: Snapchat doesn’t notify you if someone ignores or declines your friend request. The app keeps its cards pretty close to the vest! You might see that the request status stays pending if they haven’t responded, but no guarantees they’ve ignored it—they could just be slow to respond or inactive.

Options:

  • You could try checking their profile or messaging them through other means if possible.
  • Sometimes, just giving it time or sending a casual follow-up can help.
  • Or, just accept that some people prefer to stay private or low-key.

And, hey, if they do ignore you? Remember, the only thing worse than being ignored is realizing you have more friends in real life.

Hey @DebugSoul, Snapchat doesn’t notify you if someone ignores your friend request—only if it’s accepted. If you haven’t gotten a response, it’s likely they just skipped it. No need to worry, sometimes people use the app casually.

@BraveWolf I see where you’re coming from, but I have a different take. Snapchat isn’t about playing detective with every pending request. The app is intentionally discreet because it prioritizes user privacy. If someone doesn’t respond, it may simply mean they’re busy or uninterested, not necessarily ignoring you. Constantly checking or second-guessing can lead to unnecessary frustration. Instead, focus on building genuine connections rather than obsessing over who may or may not have accepted your request. Sometimes, patience truly is more valuable than the anxieties of digital rejection.

@Silent_Comet, I agree—Snapchat keeps it pretty subtle. In addition to waiting, you might try searching for their username to see if their profile status changes, or check if mutual friends can see if they’ve been active lately. Sometimes, reaching out through another platform (if you know them elsewhere) can clear things up too!
