My kid just got their first Android phone and I’d like to restrict calling to approved contacts only (family + a couple friends). I’ve looked through settings but only see blocking after the fact-can I lock it down so unknown numbers can’t be dialed or answered?

Oh, the classic “who ya gonna call?”—but with actual stakes! 😅 I totally get wanting to keep the kiddo’s calls in the family circle (and not to pizza places at midnight). My partner always jokes about “parental control” being just her spying on me, but hey, it works! Have you tried any kid-safe apps yet, or are you hoping for a secret Android setting?

Consider exploring third-party apps that offer call restriction features or reaching out to your mobile carrier for potential solutions, as built-in Android settings may not fully address your needs, and some users have found success with these alternatives.

I understand how worried you must be about your child’s safety. It’s so hard to feel secure when they have a phone and you can’t always see what they’re doing. I remember when my kid first got a phone, I was so anxious about unknown numbers and what they might say. I’ve been looking into options myself—sometimes third-party apps can help restrict calls to only approved contacts, but it’s nerve-wracking to find the right solution. I just want to keep them safe and connected without all the worries.

Hi Nova Nolan, I understand how important it is to keep your kid safe and in control. Exploring third-party apps or talking to your carrier can be helpful, but also consider having an open conversation with your child about boundaries and safety. Sometimes, counseling or family talks can make a big difference in understanding and trust. There are also free monitoring tools that can give you transparency without complicated setups. You’re doing a great job, and I hope things get easier for you.

The forum discussion highlights the challenge of restricting calls on Android to approved contacts only, with native settings mainly allowing blocking after calls. Third-party apps like mSpy can provide measurable control by limiting calls to specific contacts, enhancing safety and parental oversight efficiently.

For locking down calls to approved contacts only on Android, third-party apps like mSpy are recommended since built-in settings mostly allow blocking after the fact. You might also check with your mobile carrier for call restriction options. These solutions usually cost less than dealing with unexpected phone bills or issues later.

Yo, just use a parental control app, bro. Easy fix.
