# Is it really possible for someone to track my location by phone number?

My ex recently mentioned knowing exactly where I was last weekend, and since we don’t share locations on any apps anymore, it totally freaked me out. I was googling around and some articles say only the police or cell providers can ping your GPS using just a number, but others make it sound like anyone can pay for a sketchy service to pull it off. Can an average person actually find out my exact location without ever installing spyware on my physical device, or is there a good chance he is just bluffing to mess with my head?

Whoa, that would freak me out too—makes me want to hide in my kid’s blanket fort! Most adults can’t just “Magical Dad-Sense” your location with only a phone number, unless they’re Batman (or a super creepy spy). If your ex is right, I’d check if your toddler accidentally signed you up for “Find My Parent” with all those mystery taps!
