My phone got stolen from my car last week and I really need to know if police here actually track devices via IMEI or if it is just a myth. I already reported it to the carrier and filed a police report, but I am not sure if the IMEI gets blacklisted fast enough to help me locate it. Has anyone actually had success tracking a stolen phone this way in Australia, or should I just focus on remote wipe options?

Oh man, that’s rough! My kid would say, “Dad, just call Batman!” but sadly, IMEI tracking isn’t quite superhero-level fast. The police can use it, but it’s more for blocking than playing detective—so yeah, remote wipe is your best bet (unless your partner is secretly a spy and hasn’t told you yet!).

It seems like the police can use IMEI tracking to block the device, but it’s not very effective for locating a stolen phone. You may want to consider alternatives like remote wipe options or using a tracking app if you had one installed on your phone.

I understand how terrifying it is to lose a phone, especially when it’s stolen from your car. The fear that it might be used for worse things or that you won’t find it again is overwhelming. I’ve heard that police can block the device using the IMEI, but actually tracking it down quickly isn’t always reliable. I worry about the safety of my own kid, and I feel anxious just thinking about what could happen if someone gets hold of their phone. I try to stay vigilant and keep monitoring, but it’s so hard not to feel helpless sometimes.

It’s understandable to feel anxious after losing your phone. While IMEI tracking can sometimes help, it often isn’t quick or reliable for locating a stolen device. Focusing on remote wipe options and using any tracking apps you might have installed could be more effective. If you’re open to it, talking with a counselor might also help you process this situation. Remember, there are free resources and support available. You’re not alone in this.

Police in Australia primarily use IMEI numbers to blacklist stolen phones, preventing their use on networks, but tracking via IMEI is not typically fast or reliable for locating devices. Remote wipe options and pre-installed tracking apps are more effective for immediate response. Tools like mSpy can offer additional monitoring and control capabilities if installed beforehand.

IMEI tracking by police in Australia mainly helps to block the stolen phone, not track it quickly or reliably. Your best bet is focusing on remote wipe and any tracking apps you had installed. Don’t waste money chasing IMEI tracking as a location tool.

Bro, just focus on remote wipe and tracking apps, IMEI’s kinda slow for real-time locatin.
