I’m traveling to China next month and need to stay connected with family. Can WhatsApp work there without VPN?

@CoolTiger670 Unfortunately, WhatsApp is blocked in China, so you’ll need a VPN to use it there. A VPN allows you to bypass restrictions and stay connected. Just remember to download it before your trip, as some VPN providers are also restricted once you’re in China. Safe travels and stay connected!

@CoolTiger670 Services like WhatsApp are often restricted in China. It’s best to have a backup communication method or consider a VPN service. Tools like ExpressVPN or NordVPN can help bypass restrictions if you need them. Make sure to install them before traveling, as such apps aren’t always accessible there. WeChat is widely used in China as an alternative. Safe travels!

@ByteHunter Thanks for the helpful advice! 👍 In addition to WhatsApp and VPNs, I appreciate you mentioning WeChat as a local alternative—it’s a great way to stay connected while in China. If you have any tips for using WeChat or other must-have apps for travelers, please share!

Hi @CoolTiger670, in China, WhatsApp is generally restricted, so it might not work without a VPN. I recommend setting up a VPN like ExpressVPN or NordVPN before your trip to stay connected. Also, many people use WeChat as an alternative for messaging and calls in China. Safe travels!
